Our Story
Droombos is a first-generation family business that was started in 2018. After huge setbacks the Estate officially opened its doors in September 2019, only to face the challenges brought on by Covid 6 months later. We never retrenched any staff due to Covid and survived on a wing and a prayer.
All renovations and additions to the Estate tells a part of our story. A lot of the detail relates to places that we visited over many years and memories that is dear to us.
As a family this is personal, and we are trying our level best to keep it that way.
Our People
All the people have a single goal and that is to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Nothing at Droombos happens by chance and this goes down to the smallest detail.
We really try to remain as old school as possible. More than 90% of our staff comes from the local communities and a very large part of our furniture and fittings are made by their hands in our very own workshop. Recycling and repurposing is very important in our approach and buying new is only considered when we have no other option.
Buildings/Architecture
Our estate is littered with stunning examples of rammed-earth buildings and structures. This ancient method of building, dating back thousands of years, remains the most natural and non-toxic means method of construction.
The Garden
Within the Droombos garden flourish several Camelthorn trees, with two esteemed elders boasting ages exceeding 500 years. These venerable matriarchs serve as stalwart sentinels, presiding over the Camelthorn Garden and The Sheds Garden with dignified grace. Beyond these ancient guardians, Droombos plays host to a rich tapestry of diverse flora and fauna, adorning the estate in natural splendor. As the Namibian sun bids farewell, casting its golden hues of yellow, orange, and red upon the Auas mountains, the Droombos Gardens transform into a twilight haven of enchantment, a spectacle best experienced firsthand.
